Mystro’s ‘Rap Up’ 2009
For several years now Mad Skillz has been tossing out his own US centred Rap Up, now Mysdiggi has stepped up to put a UK spin on the proceedings. Sit back for five minutes and get all misty eyed about the last 12 months from the demise of Hip Hop Connection in print to Dappy from N-Dubz’ frequent Buzzcocks appearances.
Here’s Mad Skillz’ attempt so you can compare and contrast.
Daily Math’s word association with The Clipse
Not that Cactus Jack over at Daily Math really needs me bigging him up but this is highly entertaining stuff right here.
The Mission Statement
They say it’s not where you’re from but where you’re at, where this blogger resides at is in a rural idle of Hampshire where Hip Hop has yet to reach fully with its fat lace shaped tentacles. For a guy that’s been heavily imbedded in the beats, rhymes and styles of the culture, throughout my time in other such famouse Hip Hop cities as Southampton and Cardiff (where i used to blog at ‘Diff’s Got Hip Hop) for nearly a decade now it’s a little bit of a bind.
Besides the sight of me scaring the occasional old lady in Waitrose (God knows why, I’m hardly imposing and, last time I checked, there’s no such thing as a phobia to high-tops) this town’s not terribly well acquainted with that which was born in the polar opposite environment of the Bronx back in the 70s. The only notable exception is the prolific amount of drum and bass emerging from parked Ford Fiestas in the town car parks on a summer’s evening.
This blog aims to take that small town spirit and use it to filter, focus and hopefully illuminate a few corners of the Hip Hop universe.
For now, here’s a clip of another guy with a mission statement colliding with a little Hip Hop attitude.
